To promote high quality scientific education, research and training, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, has set up seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) at Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati.

BS-MS Dual Degree Programme

It is a five year dual degree program for bright and motivated science students who have passed (10+2) level. The program integrates classroom learning with research and provides ample scope for multidisciplinary interactions. The first two years of the program consist of core courses in basic sciences, the third and fourth years are dedicated to specialization in chosen science subjects and the fifth year includes a research project. The training during the program enables students to pursue a career in academia, R&D institutes and science based industries.

Eligibility

There are three channels of admission. Candidates will be admitted to IISER only through these channels.

  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel
  • Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT–JEE) channel
  • State and Central Boards Channel (SCB) channel
KVPY Channel

Candidates having a valid KVPY fellowship commencing from the current academic session are eligible to apply for admissions. Additional cut off criteria may be applicable.

IIT-JEE Channel

Candidates in General category securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced are eligible to apply. For candidates belonging to reserved category (OBCNC, SC, ST, PD), their category rank would be used. Additional cut off criteria may be applicable.

SCB Channel

Students who have passed (10+2) level with science stream in current year and previous year with marks equal or above the cut off percentage in their respective boards as determined by the IISERs. For the candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer of the Other Backward Classes (OBCNC) and Persons with Disability (PD) categories, there is a 5% relaxation. The cut-off percentage for the Scheduled Castes (SC), the Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Kashmiri Migrants (KM) candidates is 55% in (10+2) level for all boards. Students applying through SCB channel will have to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test which will be conducted at various centres across the country.

NISER Bhubaneshwar Courses, Admissions, Eligibility

NISER established by the Department of Atomic Energy, strives to become a citadel for basic sciences and allied subjects in terms of teaching and research. The curriculum is amply supported by a strong visitor’s programme by accomplished scientists from India and abroad.

NISER offers a 5 year integrated M.Sc. programme in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences. NISER functions from its own campus at Jatni. Degrees at NISER will be awarded by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed-to-be University within the Department of Atomic Energy.

There are 170+2 seats for 2017 batch, including reserved seats for SC/ST/OBC/PD candidates and two seats for candidates from the state of J&K as per Government norms.

About UM-DAE CEBS

The Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has an autonomous Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences in Mumbai. CEBS offers high quality teaching embedded in a vibrant post-graduate and research environment with some of the best teachers and scientists from major institutions in the city (TIFR, BARC, IIT) and the University of Mumbai and its colleges, on its faculty. The Centre is located in the Vidyanagari campus of the University of Mumbai. CEBS offers a 5 year integrated M.Sc. programme in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences. The degrees at CEBS are awarded by the 150-year old University of Mumbai.
Tentatively, there are 45+2 seats this year with reservations as per government norms, including two seats for candidates from the state of J&K and reservation for persons with disability (PD)

Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore is the premier institute for advanced scientific and technological research and education in India.
IISc offers admission to its four-year Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme. Students who will appear for the 12th standard board examination (or equivalent) in the current year or passed in the previous year are eligible to apply for admission to this Programme.

Six major disciplines are offered: (1) Biology (2) Chemistry (3) Earth & Environmental Science (4) Materials (5) Mathematics (6) Physics.
The duration of the programme is four years, organized as eight semesters.

The selection will be based on the performance of the candidates in any one of the national examinations listed above. A separate merit list of candidates who have applied will be prepared for each of these national examinations and the seats will be offered based on the performance in the examination and the number of seats available. A candidate who has qualified in multiple examinations listed above will be included in all the appropriate merit lists. Separate merit lists will be prepared for candidates belonging to different reserved categories, as per standard Government of India regulations.

The Indian Statistical Institute, known widely as ISI, was founded in 1931. In recognition of the importance of the Institute in the development and application of Statistics, the Parliament of India, in 1959, enacted the Indian Statistical Institute Act, declaring it an Institution of National Importance and empowering it to grant degrees & diplomas.The headquarters of the Institute is located in Kolkata. Courses Offered

BACHELOR OF STATISTICS (HONOURS) [B STAT (HONS)]

SCOPE
This three-year degree programme offers comprehensive instruction in the theory, methods & application of Statistics, in addition to several areas of Mathematics and some basic areas of Computer Science. It also offers optional courses in some other subjects. It is so designed that, on successful completion, the students will be able to pursue higher studies in areas of Statistics & Mathematics, as well as Computer Science, Economics & allied fields, or take up careers as Statisticians in research institutions & scientific laboratories, government departments or industries. This programme is offered only at Kolkata.

ELIGIBILITY
10+2 years of Higher Secondary Education (or its equivalent) with Mathematics and English as subjects of study.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
1. Two written tests comprising multiple-choice type and descriptive questions in Mathematics at the 10+2 level.
2. Interviews for shortlisted candidates

The written test is waived for applicants who have been selected as INMO AWARDEES to participate in the International Mathematics Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) in the current year or in any previous year, based on their performance in the Indian National Mathematics Olympiad (INMO) conducted by the National Board of Higher Mathematics, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.

BACHELOR OF MATHEMATICS (HONOURS) [B MATH (HONS)]
SCOPE
This three-year degree programme offers comprehensive instruction in basic Mathematics along with rudimentary courses in Probability, Statistics, Computing and Physics. It is so designed that, on successful completion, the students will be able to pursue higher studies in the areas of Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematical Physics, etc., or take up a career in applications of Mathematics. This programme is offered only at Bengaluru.

ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION PROCEDURE
Eligibility and selection procedure for B Math (Hons) are the same as those for the B Stat (Hons) programme.
